Drug target identification system using budding yeast

A yeast-based system is now being developed to identify possible interaction targets of chemical compounds. The system combined several assay methods such as gTOW-based over-expression assay and haplo-insufficiency assay to identify what molecules are involved in interactions with drugs of interest. A cost effective and quick turn-around system can be developed using yeast, so that high priority compounds from the yeast screening results can be dispatch to more costly human cellular assay systems. Better understanding of interaction molecules and drug´s mode of actions enable us to effective design multi-components multi-target drugs which is the foundation of the next generation system drug.
