Special Remarks from Director's Office
Within the Cancer Chemotherapy Center, the Clinical Center for Research and Drug Development (CCRDD) was newly established to support clinical trials carried out in The Cancer Institute Hospital in June 1998. This CCRDD was organized for the well qualified clinical trial under the new guideline ICH-GCP, and operated mainly by staff members of Clinical Division of the Center. CCRDD was transferred to The Cancer Institute Hospital in April, 2003.
On April 28, 2003, the Cancer Chemotherapy Center was celebrated their 30-year anniversary. On this occasion we plan three events; first one is to compile and publish a progress report of the Center for the period of 1993-2003, since a previous report covers the period of 1973-1993. The second is a round table discussion in which we talk about cancer chemotherapy in the past, present and future, and final one is being held a small ceremony of 30-year anniversary of the Center with congratulatory remarks from distinguished guests at the meeting room of the Center.
The Cancer Chemotherapy Center moves to the Ariake Hill of the Tokyo Bay together with The Cancer Institute and the Hospital at the end of February 2005. At Ariake, the Center is located at the 4th floor of a research building. Thus, the Center, Institute and Hospital is able to collaborate closely as a single new research and medical complex for control and eradication of cancer.
