About the Division of Carcinogenesis

We are currently focusing on refractory gastrointestinal cancers such as stomach, pancreas, and hepatocellular carcinoma, as well as lung cancer. Main research interest is the interaction between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment, such as immune cells and fibroblasts that exist in the surrounding environment. Our goal is to conduct research that will lead to the development of theoretically based therapies based on an understanding of the complexity of not only cancer cells but also the surrounding cells, and to achieve a milestone toward the eradication of cancer. To date, I have conducted cancer research with nearly 20 graduate students, many of whom have gone on to study at overseas research facilities, and I also provide support for students to study abroad after obtaining their PhD degrees. I’m looking for members who share our interests and goals and will work together with us to conduct research that can be fed back to cancer patients in the future.
