The Yamagiwa-Yoshida International Fellowship

In 1975, UICC-Japan launched the UICC Yamagiwa-Yoshida Memorial International Cancer Study Grants (Y-Y Grant). The original idea was to reciprocate the favor UICC had given to Japan. Starting with 60,000 USD initially and becoming 140,000 USD recently, the Y-Y Grant has been used to award international fellowships to about 15 researchers annually for 35 years. UICC-Japan fortunately got financial support for this activity from Olympus Co. (1982-1994) and then, in part, from Kyowa Hakko-Kirin Co. and Toray Ind. (1995~).
