Billing Process – Outpatient Service

Payment at Your Visit

The payment for outpatient services is due in full amount at the end of every visit for both holders and non-holders of Japanese National Health Insurance card. Cashier and the self check-out machines are located on the 1st floor. Payment can be made by cash or credit card with 4- digit PIN. After the payment, please stop by the Pharmacy Pick-Up counter behind the Cashier for your prescribed medication if you are instructed.

Payment Options (for outpatient service)

Cancer Institute Hospital accepts the following payment options:

Cash Japanese Yens are only accepted. We do not accept/exchange any foreign currency.
Credit Card Visa, Master, American Express, Diners Club, UC and JCB Card
Debit Card No foreign bank cards are accepted. Please check at Cashier on the 1st floor as limited Japanese bank cards are accepted.

Cancer Institute Hospital does not accept the following payment options:

Cash in Foreign Currency We don’t have currency exchange services.
Check Please don’t make any type of check payable to Cancer Institute Hospital. Please cash the check or have the check deposited to your account to make a payment.
Cashback We don’t offer cashback when you use a debit/credit card.

Billing Process – Hospitalization Service

The payment process differs by the patient's Japanese National Health Insurance status.

For Japanese National Health Insurance Non - Holders

Deposit

Japanese National Health Insurance Non-holders will receive a written estimate once your hospitalization is scheduled. You will be required to deposit the estimated total amount in full by your admission date by bank transfer or cash. The amount on the estimation you receive depends on the type of operation, and length of your hospital stay. Please contact International Patient Service Team (IPST) once your doctor discuss with you the hospitalization and operation during your outpatient visits. The staff will assist you with the more detailed payment information.

Refund & Additional Deposit

Upon discharge, a patient will receive any remaining refund of the deposit. On occasion, you might be requested for an additional deposit during your hospital stay in the case of when your treatment costs exceed the initial deposit. IPST will contact you for more information.

For Japanese National Health Insurance Holders

Monthly Bill

Cancer Institute Hospital issues an invoice once a month after your admission. You will be given a hospital bill on around 10th of each month and asked for paying the bill in full within a week of receiving it.

Bank/ ATM Information

Mizuho Bank Tokyo Fashion Town (Main Store Branch) - 2nd floor of the East Wing, Tokyo Fashion Town.

International Bank Transfer – Travelling From Overseas

It is advised for the international patients and families to inform your bank before you leave your country that you would expect to transfer a large amount of money to Japan in the near future. Some banks have very strict policy on identity confirmation for overseas transfer, and you might experience difficulty to request for sending a large amount out of your account to Japan once you left your country.

ATM

ATM is located just around the corner of the reception and in the convenience store on the 1st floor of Cancer Institute Hospital. No foreign bank cards are accepted. Various Japanese bank cards are accepted, but we don't transact with some banks. Please check at Cashier, 1st floor for detailed information.

Service Hours:Mizuho Bank ATM (located just around the corner of the reception) 9:00am- 8:00pm
ATM in Family mart 7:00am- 9:00pm

The maximum withdrawal limit on ATM is up to JPY500,000.- per day.

Private Insurance

Cancer Institute Hospital does not directly file/bill to your private insurance companies or third-party unless the patients submit the payment authorization in full amount of your hospitalization, and it gets approved by Cancer Institute Hospital in advance. However, we could assist you in processing reimbursement with filling the claim form out. Please consult your doctor if you need the doctor to write or sign for your insurance purpose.
